He has performed in over forty countries and has been seen on the Oprah Winfrey Show, as well as numerous television programs throughout Europe.
As an actor and performer, Steven was handpicked by Andrew Lloyd Webber to originate the starring role of “Rusty” in the hit musical Starlight Express, both in Germany and Las Vegas. This role garnered him a European radio Top 10 single with the title song “Starlight Express” for CBS Records. Other roles include Lt. Cable in South Pacific (American Hawaii Cruise Lines), the Scarecrow in The Wizard Of Oz (Macy’s Theatricals of NYC), and Tom Thumb in Barnum (The S.S. Norway). Steven is currently in post-production for his documentary, Becoming Whole, which chronicles his journey from humble beginnings to the top of the entertainment business.
As a singer, songwriter, and producer, Steven co-produced Thankful: An Album for Jerad Bortz featuring his music and lyrics sung by Tony Award®- winning Broadway actors. The album debuted at #75 on the iTunes charts in November of 2020. He had a Top 10 single and dance hit with his song, “The Letter” for Strictly Rhythm Records, receiving glowing reviews from both Billboard and Spin magazines. He wrote and co-produced his albums Whole and Flesh & Spirit with producer Josh Harris (Madonna, Seal, Christine Aguilera, Jennifer Lopez). Steven just finished recording his latest pop album, Fuchsia Blue, with co-producer Matt Anthony, aiming to be released in December 2022.
Extending his musical talents to the stage as a composer and lyricist, Steven has written the music and lyrics to his musical Flesh & Spirit, along with music/lyrics and co-writer on the book for the musical C.P.N.Y. (Central Park New York). He is currently collaborating with book writer, Allan Knee (Finding Neverland, The Little Women) on the movie musical, American Dreams: a Pinnochio story, and just completed writing his first tv pilot, “Never Too Late” that will begin filming in the fall of 2023.
Steven’s extensive concert work has taken him around the world! He has been a soloist for three U.S. Presidents and worked with such legends as BenVereen, Rita Moreno, Debbie Reynolds, Donald O’Connor, and Shirley MacLaine. Always trying to use his art as an agent for change advocating for social justice and equality for all, he co-produced the 2020 virtual concert, Artists Unite, which joined Broadway artists together to raise funds for Reverend Raphael Warnock’s and Jon Ossoff’s Georgia Senate run-off campaign. This concert featured Steven’s hit, “All-American Song,” which aimed to bring awareness to the importance of voting rights and democracy. Most recently, he wrote and produced the single “It’s My Body” for Aisfor.org, a nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing women's reproductive rights and ending the stigma against abortion care.
After more than 45 years in the business, I continue to strive to make art that inspires, challenging myself to go deeper, live fearlessly and to always march to the beat of my own drum!
